Frequently Asked Question
about Gel Wear

How long does gel polish last?

For a manicure, it should last 2 weeks with proper application, proper wear and care. Some clients can go even longer than 2 weeks. As for a pedicure, it should last a month and even more, depending on how often you stub your toe, go running/hiking/etc.

The proper wear and care depends on how gentle or rough you are with your nails. This goes for any manicure service. For example, tapping your fingernails on a surface is not recommended because it can separate the bond of the gel polish from your natural nail bed causing a weak surface. It is recommended that the weak part of the nail bed be trimmed, which is the method we try to encourage 99% of the time. Otherwise if you do wish to keep the length with the weakened nail tip, you must be very careful with your nails to avoid further damage causing a viscous cycle of weak nail tips each visit..

Oftentimes, we notice during the removal of the old gel, the clientโ€™s natural tips are splitting and the top layer is gone. This is a good indication that the wearer is too rough. Keep in mind how you are reaching into drawers and cabinets. Whether you are using it as a tool. The middle finger seems to take the most impact because it is the longest finger and as for the thumbs wear often happens due to being used as a tool.

We highly recommend you wear gloves when handling chemicals, washing dishes, and digging in the garden with soft lined gloves.

While your lifestyle is your choice, please be nice to your hands and they will last you awhile until your next visit with us!
